JEN NG
CREATIVE DIRECTOR • CULTURAL STORYTELLER • MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGNERI'm a multidisciplinary creative specializing in world-building for nostalgia and human connection through design, storytelling, and community. My approach straddles digital-immigrant and digital-native perspectives, bridging the offline and online to create a gestalt experience of cultural storytelling.
I inquire like a journalist.
I observe like an ethnographer.
I stay curious like a child.
I work with companies to create narrative-driven experiences with touchpoints that capture the zeitgeist with feeling — from augmented reality apps and interactive documentaries to installations, branding, and campaign ideation.

Getting personal:
Born to immigrant parents who blew their cash on home karaoke machines, I often practiced in front of an imaginary audience while home alone, singing along to No Doubt and 4 Non Blondes. As a teenager, I discovered indie bands through AOL chat rooms and mixtapes made by Internet friends, expanding my roster of sing-along songs to include Mary Lou Lord and Sarge because they sang in my range. I joined fellow art students as 1/4 of the 8-bit glitch-pop band, The Cleveland Browns, in college. Our live performances were frenetic, with all members letting loose on stage through Cornelius and Blonde Redhead covers and original songs.
Keeping the spirit of musical enthusiasm alive, I once danced so hard to an interactive video of Arcade Fire's "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)" that I collapsed to the ground at the Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP).
