Comic Sans
A CAMPAIGN ROOTING FOR COMIC SANS
—
How can something with a negative public image be rebranded to win public appeal? I asked the Social Media universe: “Do I know anyone who uses Comic Sans as their font of choice? If yes, comment here and tell me what you use it for. If no, tell me why you don't.”
Sample responses: “I used it when I was a preschool teacher because it looks the most like written print for kids — they could trace it, recognize the letters, etc.” “WTH. No!” and “Regularly, ‘of choice,’ no. But I believe I used it when the ‘Elf on the Shelf’ left notes for the girls.”
I learned that there’s a time and place for Comic Sans: maybe not on a fine-dining restaurant menu, but its applications have improved the lives of those with dyslexia and lightened the moods in prisons.

What follows is a could-be & should-be campaign celebrating the often-denigrated typeface that has a purpose and place for many.
